The International Karate Federation (IKF) was established in Hawaii in 1966 by founder and President, Sensei Chuzo Kotaka. For the past 20 years, we have produced AAU NATIONAL Champions, PAN AMERICAN Champions, and even WKF WORLD Champions. We currently have 12 locations on the island of Oahu so please go to our "Dojos" tab to find the nearest location to you. You can call the instructor directly to receive all the information you need to sign up for your class.
Here at IKF we accept students of all ages and all we ask is the willingness to learn. We believe and teach first and foremost the principles of RESPECT, SELF-DISCIPLINE, HUMILITY, and WORK ETHIC. Our programs are held in a friendly but challenging atmosphere that fosters discipline and individual growth. We truly look forward to hearing from you!
| The 2009 AAU Nationals were held from June 16-21, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. IKF took a team of 8 competitors and 2 referees to represent the State of Hawaii. For the past 3 months, team IKF has been training 7 days a week and putting in 2 to 3 hours a day. Congratulations to all IKF members on a fantastic job at this year's nationals. | This year's Sacramento Karate Championships were held on May 30th, Saturday, at the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation. Sensei John Limcaco has been the host and director of this tournament since moving to Sacramento and opening up IKF-Sacramento over 15 years ago. This event attracts competitiors from all over including Los Angeles, Stockton, Seattle, Chicago, and Hawaii. IKF-Hawaii sent a 3 member team includng 2 IKF Instructors. Members icluded: Sensei Mari Kaneshiro, Sensei Wayne Cablayan, Tiare Sadarananda, Masahiro Okumoto, and Daniel Pascal. Here are the results from the tournament.

| The 2009 Pan American Karate Championships were held in Curacao fromMay 28 to 30. Members from IKF who represented the USA National Teamincluded Sensei Elisa Au-Fonseca and Eimi Kurita. On the first day ofcompetition, the women's kumite team that included Ellisa Au-Fonseca,Eimi Kurita, Cheryl Murphy, and Ashley Hill took home the GOLD medal. On the remaining 2 days of competition, the indiviual kumite events followed. Elisa Au-Fonseca won the BRONZE medal in the -61kg kumite division and Eimi Kurita won the GOLD medal in the Open kumite division. Congratulations to both Elisa Au-Fonseca and Eimi Kurita on an outstanding performance at this year's Pan American Championships.

| The 2009 US Open & Jr. Olympics were held from April 10-12, at the Caesars Palace Hotel, in Las Vegas. IKF took a team of 5 members: Eimi Kurita, Kent Hori, Sarah Hori, Amy McNeill, and Jarryd Dote. Sensei George also went along and put on a kumite seminar on the 9th, Thursday, where there were 40 students in attendance. The Junior Olympics started on Friday, the 10th and the US Open started from Saturday, the 11th. This was an exciting event which gathered some of the nations top junior and senior athletes and also international athletes from over 20 countries. Most Outstanding Awards were presented to Jeren Nishimoto(Kamiloiki Dojo) 1st Place, Treyson Dote(Kamiloiki Dojo) 2nd Place, and Sarah Hori(Palolo Dojo) 3rd Place.

| | IKF's GEORGE KOTAKA and ElLISA AU-FONSECA strike GOLD & SILVER in the 19th WKF World Karate Championships held in Tokyo, Japan. This event was held this past weekend starting from Thursday(13th) and wrapping up on Sunday(16th). George Kotaka won the gold medal in the -65kg kumite division and Elisa Au-Fonseca won the silver medal in the 60kg kumite division. With 820 competitors competing from 102 countries, the US, with the gold and silver medals, placed 8th overall. In addition, IKF's own Eimi Kurita, did an outstanding job in the women's kata division representing the United States very well. Sensei John Limcaco was one of four coaches selected this year to coach the USA National Team. Sensei John did an amazing job of getting the team focused and prepared during their week in Tokyo. Overall, this was an exciting event that showed how much support IKF receives when traveling abroad. From Hawaii, Sensei Kotaka, Sensei Maile Chinen, Shannon Nishi, the Hori Family, and Mr. & Mrs. Au came up to support. From IKF Sacramento, Robbie Reithmeier came to cheer on the team as well. From Japan there was tremendous support from Sensei's all over Japan, IKF-Japan team members, family, and fans. | KGMB 9 News Station just reintroduced their hit show back in the early 80's called Hawaii's Super Kids. In 1989, 11 year old, George Kotaka was the feature of one of the episodes. Now 20 years later, to blast off the show once again, Sensei George Kotaka was asked to come into KGMB 9 studios to do a morning show for its beginnig launch. The old episode back in 1989 showed George Kotaka performing the kata (Gojyushiho), bo kata (Sakugawa-no-Kon), and sparring with mentor, Sensei John Limacaco. This footage is definitely priceless!
